Boys! Or, teens in general!
You’d think I would know boys by now, given the whole “no girls in the house” situation. But my boys are young, and I’m working on an angsty teen (of age, just barely *weg*). I’m trying to get a voice for him, since he’s my protag (my first male protag. Scary.)
If you were say, 19 and irritated at life, what would you think to yourself about your shiny new shoes getting mud all over them?
First draft I have is Well, at least they’ll look lived in. This is not working for me, way too grown up a thought. But I can’t pin down what it should be instead. Thoughts?
Other than that, the project has a nice shape. Two boys, one on a summer abroad in Ireland, the other a (older, wiser) student at Trinity college. A little hanky panky, a little light BDSM…mrow. I think it will be fun! I have the older character’s voice in the bag, but it is the innocent young one I’m having trouble with. Wonder why that is…
