Here be dragons asked about the following things, which I shall illuminate for you below:

Interests
Flash Fic: Flash fictions are short but complete fiction pieces, somewhere around 300-500 words. I’ve written a few, here’s one I really like (NSFW).

Shibari: Shibari is the “Japanese” art of rope bondage, generally as part of a sensual/sexual experience. I say that in quotes because really, it is more like the American take on the Japanese art. It is a beautiful and expressive process that combines sexual arousal with art. Here is a cool totally not work safe site with some neat pics.

Great Big Sea: The b’ys!! Great Big Sea is a Canadian folk band, very big there but not so much in the western states (though I hear they’re getting big out east). They sing a combination of traditional folk tunes from Newfoundland and surrounding areas and songs of their own composition. They frikkin’ rule the school, man. I’m kind of a GBS whore. Their website is here. In addition to all of this, their base player is a former member of Moxy Fruvous, another awesome (no longer together) Canadian band.

Interactive Storytelling: I put this on in reference to a couple of things. One is my interest in alternative methods of publishing such as internet/podcast type publishing–thus allowing the readers to have input into the outcome. I think the writers of Lost have done this well, incorporating and responding to fan chatter within the story of the show (and sometimes making a LOT of fun of themselves and the fans, which I LOVE). I also am very interested in possibly writing a text-based game or a video game, someday. I have no code or graphic art skills, so you can imagine how high that is on my list, bwah.

Terry Bisson: Is a new-to-me but far from new science fiction writer I’m really enjoying. He pokes a lot of fun at dogmatic religion and writes an unnatural amount about lingerie. Kinda reminds me of the good old Heinlein days, bwah.

Icons

This is Roland, main man and all around bad ass star of the Dark Tower series by Stephen King. 19, man. I don’t use him a lot, but when I do it is usually in reference to something I feel is quest-like, or perhaps fanatically devotional. Roland is a good symbol of that feeling.

This is a quote from….the Dark Tower series by Stephen King, bwahahaha. I generally use it when complaining about some crazy thing my children peed in or otherwise messy, busy stuff in my life. Because that is what I think when it is going on. Midworld is upside down, multidimensional, and sort of scary place, but with a core of great beauty. Kind of like my house.

These are the b’ys themselves, Great Big Sea. I use the icon when professing my eternal fidelity to them, or otherwise posting about them. They are super hot, especially the lead singer Alan Doyle and his tight tight pants. Mrow.

Ah ha! Dark Tower stuff. I’ve read a lot of King, but none of those (I kind of got burned out on him right around the time he started releasing Dark Tower books. I’ve started reading him again, but having made my way to that series yet).

I’ll have to check out GBS - they sound pretty interesting. And what you’ve said about interactive storytelling reminds me of a series I started reading . . . “Minion” is the first one, I think. They’re vampire books, written by . . . urgh, why can’t I remember her name? *googles* L.A. Banks. I’m pretty sure that she’s solicited feedback from her fans, and taken it into account when writing (or maybe even re-writing) her novels. I want to say that I read something where she actually changed some parts of something that had been published, based on reader feedback. Sadly, I haven’t finished the series. The storyline was good, but I didn’t like her writing style. But . . . it’s still an interesting concept.

And I love the flash fic you linked. You packed quite a twist in there, especially considering the time in which you had to do it! Nicely done. :) Maybe I should try writing some very short things. I’ve got a few ideas that would suit themselves to short stories . . . but under 500 words. Wow, that’s really short. O_o

Oh . . . and shibari? Reminds me of cats cradles, but for grown-ups. Remember doing those in grade school? *giggles*
