Pinky Cramp
I picked up a grown up knitting book at Michaels, and gave it a whirl this weekend. So far, it is definitely doable but I’ve only done the knit stitch, not the purl, and certainly nothing fancy like yarn over or drop stitches or anything. Casting on is still hard for me–I’ve frogged and started and frogged and started several times for practice but the cast on row is just saggy. I expect binding off will have opposite issues, and also binding off sounds super dirty. My first project is a little stuffed dog from the book–no way this is superior to crochet amigurumi, but it is all K stitches so a good starting project. I think I’ll stick to crochet for stuffy toys from now on, though.
I still prefer the kid-style instructions, I think, they break things down in to more steps and are more visual. The adult book has like four pictures and you basically guess what the stitch is supposed to look and feel like. Also, there is very little explanation of gauge so I had to figure it out myself. And the whole 1 ridge=2 rows thing hosed me a few times when I was counting.
Also, I have this cramp in my right pinky from moving the needle around. Can’t figure out why that is, but it is different then the achy forearms I get from too much crochet, so now I can switch back and forth lol. These are the reasons to take a class, so someone can tell me how I’m holding the implement wrong. Someday!
In other news, I’m having a Coke slurpee. It is good but I’m fairly certain I’ll pay for it later in pain. Stupid stomach issues.
