I have some books to discuss that I haven’t for a while, so I figure this is as good a time as any:
I did pick up the What Happens In Vegas anthology, mostly because my buddy Lauren Dane has a story within. While I can’t say it is my favorite antho evar, I did enjoy Lauren’s story Stripped. I really enjoyed her depiction of the burlesque club where the heroine works. Good times. Otherwise I was pretty much underwhelmed. Could be that the theme of Vegas didn’t excite me all that much, I dunno. Drinking and gambling not so much. Hawt stripping, yes please. I’m a perv, what can I say?
I read this crazy insane book called The Academy which I picked up for free at RT last year. And even though one of the characters was named, no kidding, Benwa, I still managed to enjoy it. I thought the author did a great job building a science fiction world in a short amount of time, and also liked the way she worked D/s into the plot without having it be, like, oh hey, D/s is selling so I’ll write that. It was fun and light and somewhat ridiculous, but you know what? I don’t mind that sometimes, as long as the characters are believable and the setting isn’t just stupid. Good times. Plus, BDSM college? Yes please.
I know I said this before, but Eat Pray Love is worth the time.
