Read it, it rules. Srsly. Not just because Oprah said so, either.
I am very happy. That is really all I have to say about that. Except the monsoons are here again, yippee!
Oh oh, and I started watching Angel. LOVE it, it is like grownup Buffy with hot hot vampy hotness. And some bonus Spike. I thought it might be rehashed and sub-par like many spinoffs are. I was wrong, and I humbly admit my error to the world. Joss is, as always, genius. Can’t wait for Dollhouse.
Nor can I wait for more Lost. And I must, until January, for both. Bah.
Also–knit and crochet is awesome, but it is hard to find things to make for people who live in the desert. Just sayin’.

Lessee…
Day job is on fire this week! Tons to do, which is unusual for this time of year.
I’m surprisingly angsty over my traveling scarf panels–I think because it is someone else’s scarf. I mean, if I mess up my own scarf, no big deal, but I don’t want to screw up someone else’s stuff. I’m still not totally happy with any of the panels I’ve done, but I think I’m improving with each panel. I know for sure that I’ve gotten much better at knitting–but I think somehow I knit too loose. Can’t figure out how to tighten up my stitches.
Having the kids home for summer has been a mixed blessing–it is really fun to see my older kid not stressing about homework and just having a good time. My younger one, though, really needs school. He’s a busy mind, and gets insane without the challenge of school (and he does go half days right now!) I can’t wait for August!
My big SQUEE of the weekend is that I discovered Great Big Sea is coming here on tour in October!!!!! So. Excited. We already have tickets, even
Well that, and, of course, Legacy releases next week! Wooooooohoooooooo!
Lastly, everyone should check out PG’s hottie post last week. Because it made me all sniffly with the happy and the hotness (what, I can make up words, I’m a writer).

And with all limbs intact!
My edits are finished and I received my finished copy of A Pirate’s Legacy this morning, yayayayayayay! I am so totally glad to be sending my girls into the world. This is two years of work under my belt (and others), and I’m very happy to say it is finally finished.
There is a long dedication, incidentally, and I owe everyone who read and critiqued this book a big fat kiss. That is probably a debt I won’t be paying back
And in addition to editing my rear end off, I found time to work in my first totally completed knitting project. Check it out, it’s cunning…

stomach flu=bad for edits and also parenting. And sleeping, incidentally.
The TV is sadly the best babysitter I could come up with on short notice, so pray for me and my exposure to too much Bob the Builder…

1. Forgo semicolons when writing for eXtasy. They don’t like them. (I do, but they don’t and they are my publisher and they win
2. Do not cheap out and do own highlights using old box in back of closet
3. Make hair appointment pronto
4. Retain sense of humor
I got my Legacy edits!! I’ll be scarce for a bit as I work on that, but my awesome editor was very sweet and complimentary of the story and very helpful with my little passive voice problem.

Today’s CTR edition is brought to you courtesy of Kushiel’s Mercy, the most recent Jacqueline Carey book, set in the lush and truly beautiful Terre D’Ange.
I will say one quick thing–these books are the proof that I can’t box myself into a genre. I HATE high fantasy. Hate unpronounceable names with apostrophes, ridiculous overwrought political plots, thousands of families and associations to remember, a plot based on all these things, etc. etc. etc. The Kushiel books are basically all of that, and I still love every apostrophe’d word (hee).
See you on the other side (will he find her? Will they kill her? ACK! I must know!)

My older kid and I already met our summer reading goals.
Perhaps we underestimated. In his case, the kick ass hours had a lot to do with being allowed to delve into my husband’s Ranma 1/2 collection. Whatever, reading is reading! We picked up his prizes (I still need to print mine out)–tickets to a baseball game and local attractions, a free book, stickers, a pencil, some other goodies. Fun times! I had to go stand with him so they’d believe he read that much.
Now he’s sick with what the little guy had, so the whining is like, endless. ENDLESS. Ugh.
Why didn’t I think about making a nice organized list of promo before? I feel so organized, so totally prepared and stuff. That never happens!
Now I must shower and spend time NOT doing paperwork. Because I did a lot yesterday, and while it only made a minor dent, I’m so done with it right now. Bleh.
Lastly–I got my tickets!! So happy I’m not missing the BDM this year

I really suck at self-promotion.
This does not limit itself to writing, but writing is where I feel it, of course, because promotion=sales, at least in theory.
I’m working extra hard this month to have stuff lined up for my Legacy release, because I’d like to sell a few copies, anyway. I’d like to see what people think of this book.
Here’s what I have lined up so far:
A feature at TRS, which is always fun
A static cover ad at TRS (I need to send in my cover)
A BAD giveaway at TRS
I’m going to sneak in on a Saturday and blog at TRS, also
Posting an excerpt in the TRS forums
Interview at Whipped Cream
Chat day at Whipped Cream on yahoo (July 2)
Cover Ad at Romance Junkies (I won this one, wooooot)
added: Participating in RJ’s summer contest
Newsletter giveaway of a copy of the book
Chat at Midnight Seductions with eXtasy (this Wednesday!)
Chat at Beth Wylde’s loop with eXtasy (July 12th)
I set up another interview on an author’s blog but I’m not sure that will come through
Do any of my author folks have advice for further promo? I’m TERRIBLE with loops, but if you know of a good one…

My little guy has been sick for the last couple days, one day kind of alarmingly so, and the second day your average “whine whine whine” type. Both days were exhausting.
In that time, my traveling scarf was lost and found, which is a relief. I think it decided to go to a Cubs game or something. Maybe Oprah.
I haven’t gotten edits on Legacy yet, and there’s a lot of work to do between all my great crit partners (although I’ve employed a lot of that crit already, there is always more to fix. Legacy is really a team effort.) and my awesome editor. Hopefully the kids, er, get abducted by aliens so I can focus on my work? My day job is still cookin’ with gas, too, several new things going on there just as some of the others drop off. That is both good and tiring.
Therefore, I’m going to eat my organic pop-tarts (awesome!) and chill with some podcasts this morning while the big kid plays video games. Can’t always win mom of the year!
